So you want to know about the Rebeleyeball?

Even though I have never written as my main job, I have been a writer for as long as I can remember. Six years ago, I wrote my first novel. It was on of the most wonderful experiences of my life. For some reason, I was able to sit down and write for twelve hours a day for five days in a row. In that time, I was able to write more than seventy-five percent of Web Site

Since then, I have been writing almost everyday. Some of the stuff is gold. Much of it is unfit for public consumption, but that's just the way it is. In my opinion, it is pretty important to be able to tell the difference.

If you ever ran across my blog Misadventures of a 42 year-old writer wannabe, then you know how old I am. Currently, I reside in a small town in eastern Washington state called Liberty Lake. My house is about three quarters of a mile from the Idaho border. If you didn't know that Washington and Idaho share a border, you may want to look at a map of the good ole US of A.

I do have a family, but I prefer not to talk about them in a public forum. I will tell you this much, I have been married to my college sweetheart for over twenty-years.

Even though I was born on the east coast and most of my siblings live there, I don't get back there much. Growing up, my family moved around a couple of times. I had the pleasure of spending most of my formative years in northern Indiana. No offense to any Hoosiers that might be reading this, but I wasn't really sad when my father told me we were moving to Spokane, Washington in the middle of my senior year in high school.

That's how I ended up at Washington State University (Go Cougs!) where I met my wonderful wife. It is also where I began my love affair with writing. Being a Political Science major meant I had to do a great deal of reading and writing. Most people I kenw couldn't stand the thought of writing a term paper, I couldn't wait.

After receiving our degrees, we moved to Denver, Colorado to live and work. After eighteen (mostly) glorious years, we decided we missed water and had to move back to the great Northwest.

I hear ya - "This is all very interesting rebel, but what does it have to do with this web site?"

Well, nothing really. Other than my attempt to make you feel welcome here at Rebeleyeball.com. Also, I know that once you read some of my work, you will be wondering how I developed such a twisted mind. Hence, I gave you a few nuggets to piece together and form an opinion of me without ever have to actually communicate directly. Besides, my favorite topic is me, afterall. I could on and on, but I guess I already have. Let's get down to it.

This web site is my idea of a way to allow me to pursue my passion of writing on a full time basis. Since I am only 43 and not independently wealthy, I had to find a way to replace my income. So yes, this is a commercial web site. My vision is to add functionality to this site over time and develop an online Fiction e-zine that generates enough revenue through advertising and subscriptions that I can pay writers good wages for all the content that appears on this site. That may be months or years from now. It may never happen, but I am going to give it a shot.

How can I do this? Luckily, I used to be a pretty good programmer. Recently, I picked up Visual Studio and now I am doing all the design and development on this site. Additionally, I have to find a way to get you to participate. The success of Rebeleyeball.com depends largely on the participation level of writers in the monthly contests. It is not guaranteed, but it is a chance at earning a decent prize online. I have done a great deal of research and most of the freelance gigs are fairly low paying, especially if you don't have much experience.

Well, that's about it for now. Check back on the "About" page, I will updated the content frequently.
